Subject: Congratulations on your oustanding achievement!

Dear Homa,

Just a brief note to say how elated I was by our Premier's act of leadership in striking down religious arbitration. I wrote him directly to show support for his recent decision. I wish more non-Canadian born persons like yourself, were so intelligent, cultivated and endowed with cross-cultural skill as you are. I am proud to be your compatriot! You  are a special lady. PS, I will look to the website for more details about your celebration party on the 17th

 Warmest regards,

Bette Stock

Dear Homa Arjomand,

On behalf of the Canadian Action Treatment Council, I would like to thank you and congratulate you and your colleagues on the tremendous effort put forward to the end religious arbitration in Ontario, and more specifically Sharia Law.

The Canadian Treatment Action Council (CTAC) is an organization built on the foundation of political activism; and strives to build coalitions with other supporters of basic human rights. It is for this reason CTAC feels it was important that we support this issue of equal rights for all of Ontario’s citizens.
Without your enduring efforts over the past several years the province of Ontario would not made this historical announcement of “One law for all Ontarians”
Once again, thank you, and congratulations.

Canadian Treatment Action Council (CTAC) is a national, non-governmental organization directed by people living with HIV/AIDS. CTAC provides public policy advice to relevant stakeholders about systemic access to treatment issues and education on these issues.

Hooray! It was an amazing feeling to see the resistance of the people! There was a 3 hour demo in Sudbury...so the many places that said NO to Sharia  weren't even reported, but the message was clear. Our community will
celebrate at Take Back The Night, Sept. 15. In Solidarity.Cate in Sudbury

Dear all

First of all I congratulate you. This was a great achievement. But as we talked in Paris we should go further and make our movement stronger. Organisation for women's liberation is organising an European tour for Homa Arjomand the co-ordinator of No Sharia Campaign. I am trying to organise this tour. I was wondering if you would be interested to help us  organise one in Paris, or/and Lion. We are very short of funds, have absoloutely no money. Would you be willing to help out with her travel costs and costs of hiring the hall and so on. This tour is being arranged for middle of October, as we should do it as soon as possible. I appreciate you prompt reply.

Best wishes

 Hi Homa,
I tried calling and got your VM but your mailbox was full so I left my number.  Congratulations on a  good fight
I posted on my blog...before the announcement on Sunday...that I was going to make a submission to the Ontario Human Rights Commission launching a complaint against the Law Society, the Ministry of Justice and Joe Comartin. Women's access to legal services, including divorce proceedings has been all but systemically dismantled by LSUC & the Ministry since 1994 when the Rae government was in.  If there were supports in place in Ontario for women, which there aren't, then perhaps Sharia may have appeared more equitable. These general problems in the legal system haven't been fixed, so I think
> it's necessary for the OHRC to finally look at them now. Not sure if you've seen the CEDAW review but there are concerns about legal access http://www.un.org/womenwatch/daw/cedaw/cedaw28/ConComCanada.PDF  the
recommendations start at item 23

Dear Mrs. Arjomand

I was just watching your arguments with those "stupid" guys on CP24. I guess you made your point very well and there was no point to fight them. If they want their own backward type of life, okay, let them get it. They deserve it.

I am an Iranian man (26 yr old) and I am against all types of faith based programs, however I am politically conservative. Once again, I just wanted to express my happiness for this victory. We are proud of you.

Just wanted to congratulate you on your great triumph and tell you that we are with you!

Homa!
Congratulations to Y O U and all those who have helped you on this amazing achievement. A JOB WELL DONE.  Can you imagine how those "MEN" feel now.....they should know....WOMEN are much much more "powerful".....in any   way. Now
you should try and eliminate the veil which covers the " b e a u t i f u l  f a c e s" and smiles of the Muslim Women especially on extremely hot and humid days while the men get to wear what they chose to wear, they do not have to suffer the heat and humidity like them. Muslim women were definitely "blessed" with beauty and I don't think it should be hidden, take yourself, when I saw your picture, I saw  a lot of beauty, not only on the outside but on the inside as well....You are a "GREAT PERSON"  for taking on such a big undertaking.....
 Sincerely
> Fran

Although i am still living in a part of the world which applies sharia law and still suffering from it but your victory still gives me hope to see a better and a free future soon.

Thank you for your leadership, your hard work and for all of the speeches you made

I was privileged to meet you when you spoke in Peterborough on Aug.31st. Until that time I had been writing my member of parliament and calling him but felt that I was getting nowhere.

You inspired me .Since then ,I spent 2hours each day phoning, e-mailing people, giving people information packets and just generally trying to get the word out.I was able to get over 100 people writing.

You have done a marvellous job and I'm sure that you are exhausted.

Thank You.

Dear Homa Arjomand:
You probably don't remember me - I have a new email address. I had written an opinion piece regarding why Sharia law in Ontario would be so dangerous, in the hopes that this article would be printed in either EYE WEEKLY or NOW magazine. Sadly, neither journal thought the article "important" enough. However, it appears that your hard work and that of the NoSharia organization has finally paid off. I am elated!!!
Thanks again, Homa and keep up the good work. You are all heroes to us!!!
